Root Canal Treatment
Lingering tooth pain? Find relief.
Lingering sensitivity after something hot or cold? Sharp pain when you bite or chew? A toothache is almost always a sign that infection has reached the pulp inside your tooth root — often from a deep crack or fracture, an injury, or decay that has worked its way inside. Left untreated, the infection keeps causing pain, can lead to an abscess, and in the worst cases forces the tooth to be removed. If you are noticing these symptoms, especially a severe toothache, we can help.
Endodontics Remedy Deep Dental Issues
Our prosthodontist at Sargon Dental is trained and experienced in endodontic care, including root canals in Encino and West Hollywood, CA. A root canal removes the harmful infection and inflammation inside the tooth before it can spread. Do not let the procedure’s reputation make you anxious or put off care — our root canals are designed to comfortably relieve tooth pain rather than add to it, and ultimately to save your natural tooth. We also work with leading insurance providers to keep the process smooth and straightforward.
Pain-Relieving Endodontic Treatments
Root Canals
Root canal therapy begins by opening the crown of the tooth to reach the pulp chamber and clear out the infection, bacteria and damaged tissue. After the canals are disinfected and cleaned, they are filled with a sealing material called gutta-percha. The tooth is then sealed to keep bacteria out and capped with a dental crown so it stays strong and functional.
Apicoectomy
An apicoectomy is recommended when a tooth that has already had a root canal still has infection lingering at the root. This minor surgery removes the tip of the root to prevent further damage or extraction: the prosthodontist accesses the root, removes the tip, then cleans and seals the canal to block reinfection.
Endodontic Retreatment
When a root canal does not fully succeed or complications develop, retreatment offers a second chance to save the natural tooth. The crown and filling material are removed, the inside of the tooth is evaluated and cleaned, fresh filling is placed to seal it, and a new or existing crown is reattached.
