All-on-4 Q&A
What are All-on-4® dental implants?
All-On-4® dental implants replace all of the teeth on your upper or lower arch. They’re unique in that they only require four dental implants for support.
Traditionally, dental implants required the placement of one post for each missing tooth. All-On-4 provides the same long-lasting results, but with much less downtime, a lower risk of complications, and better treatment outcomes.
What are the advantages of All-On-4 implants?
All-On-4 implants provide many advantages, including:
- Easier eating
- Durability
- Convenience
- Comfort
- Improved speech
All-on-4 implants also improve your oral health. If you’re missing most or all of your permanent teeth, you’re more susceptible to problems like gum recession, bone decay, and bad breath.
Who is a candidate for All-On-4 dental implants?
Anyone missing most or all of their permanent teeth is a good candidate for All-On-4. In fact, 95% of people qualify for the procedure. That includes individuals with low bone volume who might not qualify for traditional implants.
What does the All-On-4 treatment process involve?
At Sargon Dental, All-On-4 implant placement takes only one appointment.
Before the implant procedure, Dr. Dansie conducts an oral exam and takes a series of digital computed tomography scans. The CT scans help guide the implant placement and allow Dr. Dansie to assess your jaw.
Afterward, Dr. Dansie uses an intraoral scanner to take digital impressions of your mouth. He sends your impressions to the on-site laboratory that fabricates a custom set of overdentures.
Next, Dr. Dansie administers a local anesthetic to numb your gums. Then, he inserts a series of titanium implants beneath your gum line (four on the upper arch and four on the lower).
Following placement, Dr. Dansie picks up your overdentures from the on-site laboratory. He lines the overdentures up with your new implants and bonds them in place.
How do I care for All-On-4 implants?
All-On-4 implants are just like your natural teeth, so it’s important to brush and floss regularly. In addition, visit Sargon Dental at least twice each year for an oral exam and professional teeth cleaning.
To prevent damage like chips or cracks, avoid bad habits like nail-biting or chewing on ice. You might also want to wear a mouthguard or night guard if you play sports or grind your teeth during sleep.
